John H. Glassic
June 16, 1957 - October 2, 2025
Presented by the Maxwell James Oskam Foundation
This award was created in loving memory of Maxwell's great-Uncle, John H. Glassic, a man whose life was defined by the quiet, consistent way he showed up for others.
John was someone you could count on—whether he was sharing his incredible talent with anything automotive, mentoring and leading those around him at work, or being a steady, devoted husband and amazing father at home. He had a way of making people feel seen and valued, often through his humor, his larger-than-life personality, and the nicknames he gave so effortlessly. More than anything, John loved deeply—and he showed that love through action.
The “Heart of Gold” Award honors individuals who carry that same spirit, and will recognize one individual each year who:
Step in without being asked
Give selflessly of their time and talents
Lead with humility and integrity
Lift others up when it matters most
And make a lasting impact, often behind the scenes
These are the people who don’t seek recognition, but whose kindness and generosity leave a lasting mark on everyone around them.
Throughout our journey, we have been blessed by people like this—individuals who became unexpected blessings simply by choosing to show up with love, compassion, and action. The Glassic and Oskam Families will select one special individual each year who possesses these traits, and present them with this award. By doing so, will continue the legacy of John Glassic—and the love that also lives on in memory of Maxwell James Oskam.
It stands as a reminder that even in life’s hardest moments, there are still people with true hearts of gold—quietly making the world a better place.
